Training opportunities

There are not many firms that offer full 4 year training contracts to A-level entrants. We do - but unfortunately not in 2011.

We hope to advertise for a start next summer. Don't be put off if your A-levels are a distant memory; it's commitment we look for, not youthful enthusiasm. However, bear in mind that the contract is structured around A-level entrant salary levels. (The application list is now closed.)

Before you apply

Know why you want to be an accountant. Then why you want to be a Chartered Accountant. And then why you don't want to go to University first! (Or why you did.)

And be warned. This is not an easy alternative to University. Your academic qualifications should be as good as - or better than - a good University applicant. It will be a four year course - be sure you can stick at it.

And whatever your other aptitudes - communication, self-motivation - it's unlikely you'll survive without good maths skills. You may not need A-level maths - but anything less than an A at GCSE might not be good enough.

How to apply

Write to us. Fill in the form. Send us your C.V. Be bold.

Remember: any prospective employer will expect you to have done your research - so pick the brains of anyone you can.

There is general information on the Institute's site at ICAEW training. Don't get confused by the AAT Fast-track references. We don't use that route. We put you straight into a full training contract.

ross@hilaryadams.co.uk might even be persuaded to give you some off-the-record information on what it's like to train with a small firm. But check the Wisdom of Ross first; this should answer most of your questions.

And, to avoid any doubt, we pay your training costs.

Good luck!
